“Oh,
that My people would listen to Me…” –Psalm 81:13
Most people want to be understood. We may have many
acquaintances, but we need to feel “known” by those we love most. This also
applies to how God views our relationship with Him. He knows our every thought.
God can count the number of hairs on our head. We also should be learning His
ways because it is a two-way relationship. We should know how our Father thinks, what
motivates Him and what is His plan and purpose.
Although we desire to know the Lord’s mind, He makes it quite clear that this is impossible. He tells us quite plainly that, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9),
This is why God gives us His Spirit. The Holy Spirit can teach us and reveal what we otherwise could not understand. To have a deep personal relationship with God, growing in spiritual understanding is necessary. We must know His ways before we can walk in them.

The Apostle John recorded one of Jesus’ teaching on how we
can get to know God in John 16: 15, “All
things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and
declare it to you.” In other words,
He was saying that the Holy Spirit will reveal the Father and His desires to
you.
Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you into knowing
God. He will always tell you the truth
and will not lie. God does not lie and
He wants people to listen to Him. Have
you been listening to Him, or to what other people are telling you about God? We are to be humble in our hearts and learn
of Him. We can do that through reading
the Bible, prayer, mediation, and being around people who truly know God.
Prayer—Father I thank
You that You want me to know You just as much as You know me. Help me Lord, to not know you intellectually,
but through your Spirit, and experientially in Jesus Name. Amen.
